Tornadoes

Driving, must have been the midwest, although we were traveling up this great mountainous incline. I was with someone familiar, a girl from my past. The sky was boiling in slow motion, we got out to have a look; sure enough, it was an outbreak of storms, and tornadoes had been spotted. I started to set up my videocamera (that was the point of our travel, I think, to go film something), but then I realized the battery was dead. I anguished over this briefly, before resigning myself to the fact that it didn't matter who got the footage, really. I went to the side of the road, looking down onto the plains, and saw a few dozen twisting funnel clouds, writhing so very slowly and working their way around, mindless, feeding. It was fantastic, seeing them for miles in every direction, fading into the distance. I wasn't afraid.
